Build Your First Software Factory Execution Harness

An agent with direct access to your repository can overwrite your work, collide with other tasks and run commands it should never run. In this hands-on session we build the execution layer: an ephemeral Git worktree for each task and sandbox boundaries around what the agent can touch. You leave with a harness pattern you can run on your own repository.

The lessons, in order

Each lesson is one idea from the live build, cut to a few minutes, with chapters and the full transcript.

  1. 1

Six Layers Around the Execution Layer

Execution alone does not give a deterministic output. Boundary, context, skills, memory and verification decide whether parallel agents ship work or slop, and a shared verification layer is where most teams stall.

    Isolate Ports, Databases and Environments

A worktree isolates code, not the machine: two dev servers still fight over port 3000 and share one database. A hook gives each branch its own port and empty database, and a sandbox or micro VM covers what lives in the cloud.

Run Coding Agents in the Background

Tag a task and the factory triages, plans, builds, verifies and opens the pull request, stopping only when a human is needed. Attach to the session, answer, detach, and cap the work at three tasks at a time.

Stop Parallel Agents Sharing One Branch

Five coding agents committing to one local branch give you a 120-file pull request that nobody can verify. One git worktree per task brings every change back to two or three files a reviewer can read.

What the course covers

Engineers who want agents running tasks in the background without touching their own branch.

Create a worktree for every task
Give each agent task its own Git worktree that is created, used and removed cleanly.
Set sandbox boundaries
Decide which files, commands and network access an agent is allowed during execution.
Build the execution harness
Connect task intake, isolation and boundaries into one repeatable run.
Keep your own branch isolated
Let background agents work without changing your working branch.
